Internal Motor

Internal Motor

The motor is installed inside the range hood and exhausts cooking air outdoors through ductwork.

An internal motor, also called an internal blower, is the most common ventilation option for residential range hoods. The blower is housed inside the hood insert, where it pulls smoke, grease, heat and odors through the filters before directing the air outside.

-Kitchens with an existing exterior duct
-New construction and kitchen remodeling projects
-Homeowners who want strong, dependable ventilation
-Projects that require a simple, integrated blower system

Remote Blower

Remote Blower

The motor is installed away from the range hood, typically in the attic or another approved location along the duct route.

A remote blower separates the motor from the range hood insert. Smoke, grease and cooking odors are still captured at the hood and exhausted outdoors, but the blower motor operates farther away from the cooking area. Moving the motor away from the hood can reduce the motor noise heard directly above the range. Air movement through the filters and ductwork will still be audible.

-Homeowners who want a quieter cooking area
-Kitchens with suitable attic or remote installation space
-Custom construction projects where the ventilation system can be planned in advance

Filtered air is recirculated back into the kitchen without an exterior duct.

A ductless range hood, also known as a recirculating range hood, is designed for kitchens where venting through a wall or roof is not possible. Instead of exhausting air outdoors, the system pulls cooking air through grease filters and activated charcoal filters. The filtered air is then returned to the kitchen through ventilation openings in the hood.

Best for:
-Kitchens where exterior ductwork cannot be installed
-Interior kitchen walls without roof or wall access
-Renovations with structural ducting limitations
